Postsecret Response
It didn't take me long to figure out my secret, it came to while I was telling my friends about the assignment. It isn't anything I'm ashamed of so I told them my idea and they laughed and told me to do it. Even so, I kind of hope it doesn't make it onto the site, because it wouldn't be hard to figure out I wrote it, and it would be a tad bit embarrassing. I put it off until after we got done playing Counter-strike so I'm writing this at 1am but I think its still a quality postcard.

Family Recipe

The postcard mailed on a Betty Crocker box mix of gingerbread amuses me the most because I have experienced family members doing this same thing on multiple occasions. My aunt is the most common perpetrator, with her hawaiian cake being nothing more than angel food cake from the grocery store with whipped cream, pineapple, and coconut on it. Someone who would do this is the type of person who concerns themselves with "keeping up with the Joneses". Hopefully the author of this postcard will admit to whoever wants the recipe that it's just a box mix to save themself the embarrassment of the person finding it out themselves, as I did, when I saw the box from the angel food cake in the garbage.

About the Woman
The woman appears to be a Catholic housewife from the 1950's probably living somewhere in New England. I think she truly believes in her faith because she has her hands together in prayer and is looking right at the priest through the screen instead of staring blankly at the door with her head hung in shame from whatever brought her to the confession booth. She seems to seek forgiveness for something, or perhaps someone has wronged her in some way and she needs help trying to forgive them. Although her face is hidden, she appears to be distraught about whatever it is. Confession can be therapeutic to many, but for some, like me, it merely makes matters worse because now someone else knows whatever secret you have withheld. Confession is probably more helpful to people who believe a higher power is watching over them, and believe if they confess their sins it makes whatever they were hiding not as bad.
